The Baird Foundation and its sponsor, Callahan County, have received a $1.174m Transportation Enhancement Grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) for the restoration and adaptive use of the historic Baird Depot into a Visitor Information and Railroad Transportation Museum.  Komatsu Architecture provided the original Master Preservation Plan on which the grant application was based and assisted in its preparation. Improvements will include: Exterior restoration including tile roof reconstruction, Original window restoration, Site improvements for visitor and museum outdoor artifacts, New elevator and stair components, Interior layout for visitor information, museum, and office functions, and Community meeting room.
