This is a 25,000 square foot single-story main library for the Town of Flower Mound. Komatsu Architecture was charged with the task of designing a library that would serve as art as well as architecture: a building that would enrich the quality of life for the people of Flower Mound. In addition to achieving the goal of library as art and architecture through Texas Plains vernacular design, the building was constructed and furnished under the client’s budget. Specific library features are: use of brick, stone and stucco, adult lounge and reading area, visible children’s area with entry feature, enhances and enriches neighborhood, program room and conference room, clerestoried spine with exposed steel trusses and complete computer capabilities.
