Under county and Komatsu Architecture partnership Courthouse master planning began in 1996. Comprehensive design and planning services targeted an 1884-period building restoration, which reinstated the historical integrity of the original courthouse while incorporating the desired current technology and occupancy standards and codes required for a fully-functioning county government operation. The scope included site drainage improvement, hazardous materials abatement, repair and repointing of all exterior masonry, standing seam metal roof installation and restoration, and cupola and clock restoration. The interior scope included door and millwork restoration and reconstruction, restoration of all original finish materials, restoration of the original courtroom, new HVAC system, and new ADA compliant toilet rooms and elevator. |
