Reeves County Judicial Center
Project Type: New Construction
Location: Pecos, Texas
Project Description
The 91,000sf, three-story Judicial Center will include offices for the Justice of the Peace, a JP court, a district court that shares the District Judge with two other counties, and additional offices, along with flexible space for future growth. The design takes advantage of its north-facing natural light orientation and is compatible with the new Courthouse design. The facility will also incorporate progressive collapse security features meant to prevent localized structural damage from cascading into adjoining areas of the building.
The new Festival Plaza will connect the Courthouse and Judicial Center, completing the County Campus. Decorative paving patterns will define parking spaces, enhancing the appearance from a typical black-top-striped parking lot. The pattern and lighting will also be designed to accommodate a permanent overhead fabric shading system. The covered parking may double as vendor stalls for weekend festivals, farmers markets, food trucks, concerts, and other public and community events. The shade structure cables will support festive night lighting. Finally, the plaza will allow for a portable bandstand setup with electric power docking.
